PAST ACTIVITY – MILLEWA PIONEER PARK

RSL ACTIVE AND MILDURA RSL

Sunday July 30, 2023 the Mildura RSL and RSL Active hosted a bus trip to the Werrimull War Memorial and the Millewa Pioneer Park.

For this activity there were 35 attendees, requiring two buses to take everyone around. The first stop was to the new Millewa War Memorial, which opened on Anzac Day earlier this year. Here we learnt about the facts of the War Memorial and had an hour to explore more. The Millewa community have planted more than one hundred trees around the memorial.

From there we went on to visit the Meringur Pioneer Park, which was a large space with plenty of trees and old buildings from all over the Millewa region. There were approximately twenty old buildings including a church, chaff shed, milking shed and even a pine log chaff shed all filled with historical items and documents from the past. A black smith shop was filled with old tools, it was like stepping back into the past.

There was lots to see and do, from all of the sculptures made from recycled machinery parts, old cogs, cultivator points and much more. A BBQ Lunch was enjoyed by all.
